God’s Provision – When Thoughts Become Prayer
‘And my God will fully satisfy every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.’ Philippians 4:19
The more I live this life, the more I am given by grace to understand the depth of simplicity that is the life entrusted to God; how the presence and majesty of God enriches and provides for our every need in Christ, even as the Lord’s promises are fulfilled. Heavenly riches, marked by glory abound in that life. Small and large, each significant for the soul’s rebirth and growth in the Spirit.
When thoughts become prayers – Two days ago I thought (without speaking it to anyone) how I would welcome a palm sized Bible to take with me on my travels. This morning I walked to the Sanctuary for morning prayers, and looked in on the library from the door. There on the floor, sitting neatly as if someone had placed it in plain sight from the doorway, a palm-sized Bible I had never seen, belonging to the Prior, who had not taken it from the upper shelves since it was placed there eight years ago.
Another prayer, by God’s impeccable ministry, answered.
In these days of troubled and changing world, Christ’s voice may seem more distant at times. It may appear that the Lord has forgotten us but God has not, does not, ever. Let us turn our thoughts and our hearts to doing God’s will, to loving on Jesus, to blessing the Holy Spirit’s works within us, that we may rejoice in and notice God’s great provision in our life. For it is truly glorious. And glory be to God forever. Amen.
