PATIENCE that the Holy Spirit cultivates in us is divine in origin. It is a heavenly gift that reflects the nature of God. The Fruit of the Spirit that is Patience – or Longsuffering – is more than the ability to wait; it is the grace to wait well. It is enduring with hope, persevering through trials, and tending to delays or challenges with a heart of peace. It is the expression of God’s love in us. When we embody the fruit of the Spirit, Patience, we embody a love that reflects God’s own enduring love for us; a love that never gives up, never grows weary, and never loses hope. The Spirit’s Patience, that is Christ’s Patience, teaches us to reach for God’s will before wordly offerings and to wait for God’s timing. With this Patience, we reflect the light of heaven in a restless world, becoming steadfast witness to the faithfulness and love of God.
